Wallingford Treehouse
When I set off to build a DADU in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle, WA, the main goal was to design and build an effective 1000 SF home that enriches and honors the old neighborhood while bringing new flavors to the pallet. We see that homes are not only a sanctuary for the owner, but for all that walk our streets. Our art, our design is on display for everyone to enjoy.
The site is tightly nestled between existing houses perched on a steep slope. Taking advantage of that, the second-floor kitchen and living space opens up to the urban forest and to the right, city high rises reflect the afternoon sunset. The fir ceiling, heated tile floor and vast windows are an ode to Mid-Century Modern, all together combine to create the Wallingford Treehouse.
We took great care in the window placement so to respect the privacy of all neighbors yet create a complete sense of openness from the abundant windows lining the second floor living room. Honest, high quality, locally sourced materials were chosen. Nature is beautiful, and we wanted to proudly display the best that the NW has to offer.
